1 by 1: The Infinite Loop brings together Jackson-based artists Brenden Davis and Justin Ransburg in a multimedia exploration of the human psyche, social interaction, and the expectations that shape how people understand themselves and one another.
Combining the visual languages of film, comics, and fine art, the exhibition moves across painting, large-scale illustration, mixed-media sculpture, self-published zines, and animation. Familiar figures, objects, and environments are transformed into surreal spaces where memory, anxiety, identity, and possibility overlap. Davis’s abstract dreamscapes and interior emotional worlds enter into conversation with Ransburg’s character-driven imagery and narrative approach, creating connections between personal experience and shared social realities.
Rooted in Afrofuturism, surrealism, abstraction, and social awareness, the exhibition treats the infinite loop as both a structure and a metaphor. Ideas, emotions, and interactions repeat, shift, and return in new forms. Rather than presenting a single linear story, 1 by 1 invites viewers to move through a cycle of interconnected works and consider how perception changes each time we encounter ourselves, one another, and the worlds we create.
On view: September 12–November 29, 2026
